2025 Tax Filing Season Commences, Are You Ready?

As we venture into the new year, we are reminded of the impending tax deadlines to officially close out 2024. The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) recently released information for taxpayers about disaster loss assistance, cash-back tax credits, and the benefits of filing and paying online. With the ongoing expansion of online services provided by regulatory agencies, such as the FTB, it is imperative to utilize these free tools and review the potential benefits they may offer your family and/or business. To avoid penalties, as many taxpayers know, all tax payments are due by April 15th or extensions should be requested if unable to meet this deadline.

There may be advantages to filing electronically and ahead of the annual deadline depending on your financial situation. Filing early may also protect you from identity theft or stolen identity refund fraud, which continue to be on the rise. One of the ways to combat unforeseen tax issues, is considering to partner with your preferred tax preparer, financial advisor and seeking professional legal tax law advice, so that together you can develop a solid tax plan of action each year. This super tax team can assist with finding any potential blind spots that could be minimizing your leverage in seeking the highest possible tax benefits you can realize each year. Good luck out there!
